Let's Talk POWER...

With no further ado, let's talk power; more specifically the power of. I will share the power of what has been beneficial to my life and my mental health. My hope is that this power will bring you insight and positive benefits too; so that we can all live our best life. 

 The Power of Prayer

Prayer is at the top of the list because God is at the top of my life. Prayer is how I stay connected to God; prayer is what keeps the lines of communication open. There are many different phrases about prayer, such as, "Prayer opens doors," "Prayer changes things," and "Pray about everything, worry about nothing." 

I am here to tell you from experience that all of these phrases are true. Prayer really does change EVERYTHING.

Back in 2015 I struggled terribly with depression and anxiety. During that time, I was a full-time Pre-Medicine student, full-time nail technician, and head of my household. The position added much pressure on me but at the time I did not see it that way. I believed that I could simutaneously fulfill each role successfully. However, I became severly depressed and anxious. I failed courses, developed bad time-manangement, and spent many days crying myself to sleep. For a while I could not understand why I was behaving this way. As time went on, my behavior got worse. I had no desire. Only the bare minimum of responsibilites got handled. I was in a dark and hopeless place.

But God...

Prayer saved my life. The only honest answer I have as to how I came out of hopelessness is God and prayer. I wanted to be free so bad. The only action I knew to take was to pray, so that is what I did. I was so helpless and I had no power on my own to pick myself up. But God, he answered my prayers and restored power in me. To think about those times bring me to tears because I remember how low I was and I remember how lost I was, and I know how far I have come. 

Prayer was the only force powerful enough to deliever me from such a dark place. All my thanks go to God because without him I would not be here today sharing my experience. 

With that being said; if you or anyone that you know is struggling with depression, anxiety, hopelessness, sadness, thoughts of suicide, or any other mental health disorder; the answer is PRAY. Prayer led me to counseling and counseling helps me control my depression and anxiety.

Sometimes I hear people talk about not knowing how to pray or feeling like they are not praying correctly. Forget all of that! Just pray. Simply open your mouth and talk to God (or whatever Higher Power you worship) about whatever it is that you need or want to talk about; ANYTHING!!! God is the homie. Gang, Gang! God knows you better than you know yourself. And if you want to learn more about yourself, praying and developing a relationship with God is how you will find your true identity. God has your back better than anyone on this Earth.

Do yourself a favor and open your mouth to pray.

The Power of Positive Thinking

Positive thinking will change things just as prayer will. In my opinion, positive thinking is literally the difference between having and not having. Positive thinking is one of those forces that only your individual mind can control. Just as prayer was the force powerful enough to get me out of depression; positive thinking is the force powerful enough to get you to the next level in your life. 

Whatever goals you are hoping and focused on achieving, wether they be realtionship goals, weight loss or weight gain goals, career or academic goals; positive thinking will get you one step closer to fulfilment. When you think positive about something, that means you believe in it. And when you believe in something you will work for it. A positive outlook, belief, and hardwork will manifest your goals. 

Change your mind to POSITIVE THOUGHTS ONLY.

I know how difficult this may be, I am human too, I know that the idea of positive thinking is not always easy. Without even trying negative thoughts just pop into our heads; negativity is all around us. Negativity can be at home, at work, at school and many other places. But it is still all up to you to replace the negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Challenge yourself to remain positive in negative environments and let the universe do the rest. 

In order to have positive experiences in your life, you must become a positive thinker. I have watched people crack jokes saying "you are just trying to be positive," as if it is not cool to be positive. And I have heard stories of some people discouraging others from being positive. DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP.

Nevermind the naysayers. Silence the negative noise. As you evolve there will be people in your life who will try to stunt your growth. Do not let that happen. Do not be afraid to become a better version of yourself. I do not care if you were a negative person yesterday and decide you want to be a positive person today; you have that right. 

But, what I will say is...pick a side! And stay there. Once you make the decision to think positive thoughts only, be intentional about that everyday. When a negative thought pops into your mind, quickly cancel that thought out with a positive thought. When negative situations occur in your life, be intentional about finding something positive that can come out of it; and remain as positive as possible throughout the process. You have control over your thoughts, POSITIVE THOUGHTS ONLY.

The Power of Patience

Lastly, we have this powerful force called patience. Ahhhh...patience! Patience is like the cherry on top of a 15 ingredient ice-cream sunday lol. Or like the secret ingredient to that award winning dish, that actually makes it award winning lol. Patience is the G.O.A.T and once you master it, life will become much sweeter.

We live in a world where everyone wants everything so fast. Men want women to have pre-martial sex with them, FAST. Women want to have slimmer waists without proper diet and exercise, FAST. And most of us want to be millionaire staus without even a business plan, FAST. But the reality is, the perks of life do not always happen fast. And usually when they do happen fast, they do not last very long.

DRIVE SLOW HOMIE.

Take your time. Live in the moments. Cherish the moments. Embrace where you are right now. When God decides the time is right; you will have what is meant for you. But you must be patient.

That male or female who takes the time to get to know you as a person and is not so quick to see what you have to offer sexually, is more likely to be loyal for a lifetime. And the time that you invest into being consistent with proper diet and exercise, will give you the dedication to remain sexy and healthy forever.

Sometimes it is better to wait. I do not concern myself too much with "missing opportunities," because I wholeheartedly believe that what is meant for me will be mine. I believe that prayer and positive thinking will put me in alignment with what I am suppose to have at the time that I am suppose to have it. I encourage you to have patience and believe for your future too. Pray, think positive, and have patience; the power of this will help us all see brighter days.
